Dr Stephen Norman BDS(Lond) LDS RCS(Eng) qualified from King’s College Hospital, London, in 1972. He worked in NHS general dental practices for the first ten years of his career, in Somerset and South London, gaining both clinical and management experience.
This period of information gathering culminated in starting a new dental practice in Dulwich, South East London, where treatment was carried out under both NHS and Private contract. During the eighteen years that Dr Norman owned this practice, he underwent regular, quality, post-graduate training to advance his knowledge in endodontics, cosmetic dentistry and advanced restorative techniques. Three years prior to leaving London in 1992, to live in East Sussex, the practice was successfully converted to total private care, providing quality dental treatment.
During the past seven years, Dr Norman owned a successful private practice in Tunbridge Wells, and continued his post-graduate studies. He also worked in a private practice in Tenterden, Kent, as an Endodontic (root canal treatment) ‘consultant’, taking referrals from within the practice, and from outside practitioners. Dr Norman was jointly instrumental in setting up a new, all digital, private practice in Hawkhurst, Kent, which opened in May 2005, and worked there as Endodontic ‘referralist’ for eighteen months until October 2006. He is constantly updating his knowledge and technical skills, especially in the field of endodontics, and cosmetic dentistry. He has also gained the clinical skills, coupled with a natural artistic talent, required for the creation of TV style Smile Makeovers. With over 36 years experience in ‘hands-on’ dentistry and a constant desire for perfection, any client can be assured of his best attention.
Away from the surgery Dr Norman has an active interest in gardening and the appreciation of fine wines. He is an occasional cricketer, golfer and tennis player and, with his wife, takes great pleasure in supporting and watching his three teenage sons compete at a high level, in a variety of sports, especially rugby, hockey and cricket. He has had a passion for skiing since being first introduced, at the age of 39, and is now able to enjoy annual skiing trips with his three sons. He and his wife occupy most of their spare time involved with their boys’ education, and enjoying the company of friends.
